Mac Sierra 10.12 Disable App Translocation

This applies to Mac OS 10.12 and any MXWendler version

Problem:

  • You start Stage Designer, and a warning appears that a certain folder could not be created due to a read-only filesystem path


Background:

  • Under OSX Sierra, Gatekeeper dislocates unsigned applications to random paths of start


Solution:

  • Disable Gatekeeper
    • Open Terminal as Administrator
    • Type sudo spctl --master-disable
    • Reinstall Stage Designer
    • This may affect your security settings


Long Term Solution:

  • Switch from OSX to a real operating system
