March 2018, with MXWendler version 5 and Blender version 2.79b
More documentation on the Blender project can be found at:
https://www.blender.org
Pre-requisites:
Blender
- Please download the latest version from:
- The latest MXWendler FXServer will have Blender already installed and a preset with a convenient video-editing UI configuration linked on the desktop.
Install Blender
Once the installer is downloaded from the Website:
- - Launch the Installer.
- - Follow the instructions until the setup is finished.
Launch and Configure Blender for Video Editing
Launch the blender application. The app will start in Default mode (3D View + Tools)
- A – On the top of the page, open the menu between Help and Default .
- B – Select Video Editing from the drop-down menu.
Add the Preferences toolbox
- C – In order to add a toolbox, a new window needs to be created: drag the upper right corner of the Video Sequence Editor (the video preview) to the left. A copy of the same window will be created.
- By dragging the same corner back to the right (on the new window) the box will disappear.
- D – Click on the film-tape icon to open the menu and select Properties.
Set up the Rendering Options
Use the following values to have a correctly encoded video.
- Framerate: we highly recommend to use a framerate of 30 or 60 (60 requires more performance). To avoid lag and glitches all the footage of a project should have the same amount of fps
- Output: FFmpeg
- Container: Quicktime
- Codec: H264
- Keyframe Interval: 5
- Audio Codec: AAC
Export
Once the right values are set up we just need to:
- A – Import the footage (simply drag and drop from the folder to the timeline).
- B – Set a start and an end frame.
- C – Set output folder and file name.
- D – Click on Animate to start the render.
